EGU General Assembly 2019 GIFT Workshop
The Geosciences Information For Teachers (GIFT) workshop is taking place on April 8–10 2019 at the EGU General Assembly in Vienna, Austria. It will be preceded on Sunday, April 7, by a guided visit to the splendid Vienna Natural History Museum, one of the most renowned in the world.
The topic of the 2019 edition of GIFT is ‘Plate tectonics and Earth’s structure – yesterday, today, tomorrow’. Over two and a half days, the workshop will explore the major processes and structures of plate tectonics and our planet, through topical presentations from scientists at the cutting-edge of research, together with hands-on teaching activities, following the tradition of GIFT workshops.
Teachers are also invited on a voluntary basis, to present classroom strategies and activities that they may have developed with their pupils in the poster session ‘Science in future classrooms’, which is an integral part of the GIFT workshop.
This project brings Earth, planetary and space science research to children. Planet Presses are short versions of EGU press releases – articles for journalists based on scientific research published in EGU journals – written in child-friendly language. All of EGU’s science press releases issued to date now have a corresponding kids version.
